Neurological Diagnoses
Individuals navigating life with a neurological disorder can require a combination of treatments including Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy and Mental Health Therapy. Gaining physical strength is just one aspect of treatments. We extend our services and expertise to include educational resources, support groups, home evaluations and safety screenings. Neurological Diagnoses include a wide variety of injuries and diseases. For a complete list of neurological diagnoses that we treat at Unified Therapies, click here.
Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy
Vestibular rehabilitation therapy is a specialized therapy intended to alleviate problems caused by vestibular disorders, primarily vertigo and dizziness, gaze instability, decreased standing balance, and falls.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)
Ehlers- Danlos can cause significant instability in joints that can lead to injuries. Physical therapy can strengthen muscles around the joints to decrease Ehlers-Danlos symptoms. Physical therapy can help with joint pain, joint dislocation due to hypermobility, and frequent falling. By helping strengthen different muscles and teaching new ways to move, physical therapy allows individuals with Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome to find new paths to symptom relief.
Urinary Incontinence
Physical therapy addresses the root causes of urinary continence, rather than simply treating the symptoms. Lack of bladder control actually stems from a lack of control over the muscles underneath the bladder. It is estimated that pelvic floor disorders occur in up to ¼ of American women, but they can affect men as well. Physical therapy strengthens the pelvic floor muscles so that they can continue to do their job of supporting the bladder and helping the body to regain control of leakage, spasms and urine stream.
LTGBQ+ Medicine
Unified Therapies provides therapy services without worries of discrimination or bias. As specialists in LGBTQ+ medicine, our team offers rehabilitation programs in an environment where LGBTQ+ individuals feel respected and safe during their treatment.
Wellness Program
Our Wellness Program highlights the proven advantages of practicing preventative medicine that can be seen through increased health, fewer office visits and a decrease in risk of developing serious illness and disease. Our Mental Health Therapist compliments the Wellness Program model by working with our clients through the acclimation process of a new diagnosis to prevent development of depression and anxiety. By integrating our Wellness Program with preventative medicine, patients see a reduced risk of high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol and diabetes.
Orthopedics
Our therapists treat an array of orthopedic and musculoskeletal issues. Whether an individual has experienced a sports injury, muscle sprain, or an orthopedic surgery, the provision of physical therapy works to improve function and enable movement of bones and joints; including surrounding structures such as muscles, nerves, tendons and ligaments.
Cranial Facial Release
Cranial Facial Release (CFR) is an advanced endo-nasal “Balloon Assisted” cranial adjusting technique that has been used quite successfully in the treatment of various neurological and structural disorders. Cranial Facial Release Technique works to restore proper function to the nervous system and proper balance to body structure. Thus, it has positive effects on conditions ranging from aches and pains to overall health and wellness.
Benefits and Potential Outcomes:
Pain Relief: The nasal release technique has shown promising results in reducing the intensity and frequency of headaches, head pressure, and migraines. By addressing the root cause of these conditions, individuals often experience significant pain relief and improved overall well-being.
Enhanced Circulation: By realigning the nasal structures, blood flow to the head and brain improves, ensuring proper oxygenation and nutrient delivery. This can alleviate vascular headaches and reduce the intensity of migraines.
Nerve Function Optimization: The technique aims to relieve any impingement on cranial nerves caused by misalignments. By restoring proper nerve function, individuals may experience a reduction in nerve-related symptoms, such as tingling, numbness, or radiating pain.
Improved Cerebrospinal Fluid Flow: Misalignments in the nasal area can disrupt the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, which surrounds the brain and spinal cord, potentially leading to increased intracranial pressure. The nasal release technique aims to restore the natural flow of cerebrospinal fluid, promoting proper fluid dynamics and reducing head pressure.
Muscle Spasm Relief: The nasal release technique helps relax the muscles involved in spasms, promoting better muscle function and reducing discomfort.
Neck Pain Alleviation: By addressing any nasal misalignments or restrictions, this technique can contribute to a decrease in neck pain and stiffness. The restored balance in the nasal passages can have a positive impact on the neck muscles, leading to improved range of motion and diminished pain.
Shoulder Pain Reduction: Nasal release technique can also indirectly benefit shoulder pain by addressing underlying issues in the nasal passages. By restoring optimal nasal function, tension and strain in the neck and shoulder areas may be alleviated, resulting in reduced pain.
Improved Sleep Quality: Individuals with low energy, Fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue frequently struggle with sleep disturbances. CFR has shown promise in improving sleep quality by addressing underlying cranial imbalances that may contribute to sleep issues. By enhancing cerebrospinal fluid flow and optimizing cranial alignment, CFR may help individuals experience more restful and rejuvenating sleep.
Enhanced cranial bone alignment: By addressing cranial misalignmentsCFR help restore optimal skull function and alleviate any undue pressure on the brain.
Restored neurological function: CFR’s focus on cranial realignment may help reduce inflammation and optimize neurological pathways, potentially improving cognitive function, memory, and concentration.
Alleviation of symptoms: CFR’s holistic approach may help reduce the severity and duration of concussion-related symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and cognitive difficulties.
Educational In-Services for Facilities and Individual Providers
Our licensed staff provides tools and resources for Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facilities. We offer on-site services to include lift assessment, lift transfer training and bed mobility. These assessments and trainings are a crucial part of caring for mobility-challenged patients, increasing effectiveness of care while decreasing risk of back injuries and other injuries that can occur during physical care.
